“We The People” Can The Pawns Ever Win?

The pawn always dies in route to victory or in defeat...
I think we can all agree that renewable and clean energy is a forgone conclusion – it’s just a matter of time; 5-years, 10-years… maybe even 50-years but, we all know it’s inevitable. This is in no way to say that oil and other fossil fuels will not be in use, instead and at the very least though, America’s importing of oil will be greatly diminished.
More and more technology and all reports indicate enormous advancement opportunities in energy outputs; electricity for heating and cooling, automobile powering, lighting, manufacturing capabilities, etc. The problem unfortunately for the U.S. and its citizens, has been China.
China beat the us to the punch. They took what U.S. leaders knew, but hesitated in developing a market for, and ran with it all the way to the bank. And now that China has shown the way to these advanced possibilities, the United States has decided to cut them out of the market, or at the very least limit their superiority – hence the current international litigation regarding China’s solar products. It should be noted, that contrary to what the Republican Congress would like for us to believe, if the U.S. thought there really wasn’t any validity to a true substantial solar market, they would not have taken any action at all against China. For why would anyone care if someone was manufacturing a product that hadn’t any true market value.
No folks, Solar is coming to the U.S. The only problem is that it will cost Americans much more than it needs to. In part however, it makes perfect sense not to send any more U.S. dollars over to China for a product that we know leaders will be pressing residents to take full advantage of in the near future but, it also means that Americans will have to pay much more for something that we could have had at a more reasonable and affordable price.
To date, and over the past 5 years or longer, the largest of America’s investors; hedge funds, billionaire private investors, and the U.S. Government have dropped hundreds of billions of dollars into the renewable/clean energy space including solar. However, by its publicly open and firm stance against China’s solar-panel exporting business which by the way has been going on for several years supplying the rest of the world including the U.S. with solar panels for many of the world’s largest solar projects at enormously cheap prices, this signals it is time for investors to recoup their investments. Unfortunately, it will be at the expense to us, US residents to pay everyone back.
We have all been put in the predicament of; we could slowly send all of our money to China for supplying us with our needs or, we can keep our money at home in the U.S. and instead, we just have to pay more for our needs, because investors must be paid back. Either way we’re screwed, because those who truly control our country have already made the decision for us. It would simply be nice though, if they would find a way for our wages to increase proportionately as well…
WE THE PEOPLE are but pawns in this chess game where only those at the top truly continue to benefit, here in the U.S., China, and elsewhere too!
What Do You Think?

I think you are slightly misinformed. China has engaged in industrial espionage for years and is still willing to do so. Much of the technology they have developed in the solar energy field is actually stolen from U. S. companies and government research facilities. I attend the annual trade show for security products and everyone plays by the no camera rule except China, India, Pakistan and North Korea. If you have a novel concept they will photograph it. open anything they can to look at how you made it and I have seen them go so far as place an order with a company to get a product and next year they have their own version of your patented device and the Government will not enforce against them due to keeping nice relations about our national debt. I am all for making the planet a better place to live but I for one am willing to pay more for American products. However the dream of collecting enough power from the sun to run cities is still that. No one has developed solar collection technology to a level of that efficiency. Unless you want to install collectors on our green spaces.
We need to develop the technology and make it a viable alternative but if we open the market based on what is good enough now, rather take action and insist that the government remove some of the regulatory funding and spend it on development. If we are going to spend money spend it smart. Put people in America to work and get solving our problems rather than relying on China to solve them for us.
Thank you for your reply but, I am in no way misinformed or disillusioned in the activities of China. However, what you have nicely stated about the lack of American work and the putting to use our highly advanced technological capabilities is exactly my point.
For example: how and why did we (the US) develop solar tech in the 1970′s and then as you say, let China steal the tech (I’ll say we probably gave it to them…) to the point where they have become the world’s leading supplier of materials… Currently there are many countries using Clean and Renewable energy technologies for their betterment and reducing their use of fossil fuel. We on the other hand are using these technologies in governmental uses, ie; the military, government buildings and other facilities, but the technology is not easy for the individual consumers… My point is that our political process has allowed for “the market” to control the individual’s life’s and as long as there is money to be made by those associated companies, then why would they allow any new technologies that they have no ownership part of come into existence…
Big Oil fights Clean and Renewable Energy in the political world yet take a look at the commercials they run on television. They are investing in this new technology but, as they keep out the “newcomers” and until they’ve secured their control over the market, these technologies will not become a mainstream for the average Americans.
As I said: we are all but pawns with no real benefit. The government benefits, our politicians, Big Oil, the super wealthy, and as well China and the many other nations that do business with our political and corporate leaders. I love my country dearly, but they’re screwing us royally.
